After 15 years of actively guiding groups through southern and east Africa, we in 2016, created BUSHFOOT AFRICA. Designing tailor made adventure tours. Working with trusted tour operators and interacting with various communities over the next two years resulted in the birth of BUSHFOOT BASECAMP. The aim was to provide simple yet comfortable and affordable accommodation. To serve the local communities surrounding Pilanesberg Game Reserve was part of our mission.
And what a challenge it has been! The ongoing development of the once abandoned property, support for the local pre-schools, and creation of hiking trails in the surrounding mountains has provided over 500 guests from all over the world, the opportunity to get a better understanding and true respect for MAMA AFRICA.

BUSHFOOT BASECAMP
PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK
BASECAMP is situated in a malaria free area, only one kilometer from the Bakgatla gate to the Pilanesberg National Park. The unique geology of the ancient volcano has created a wilderness wonderland for all to admire and enjoy. Here at BASECAMP, we are all about conservation of this natural heritage. By supporting local conservation groups and projects, and our ‘off the grid’ life style, together we can preserve this paradise for future generations to learn and benefit from.
ACCOMMODATION, ACTIVITIES AND RATES
ACCOMMODATION: BASECAMP offers a variety of rustic style accommodation for the budget traveler. Bring your own camping gear or caravan and choose a site to camp. Electricity is available in the main communal Lapa, please bring your own 50 meter extension cable. Basecamp also offers 2 twin rooms, with private shower and toilet, a family room with 4 beds, private shower and toilet, and private dome tents with mattress and bedding that sleep 2 per tent. A communal kitchen with electricity, fridges, microwave, gas cookers and all the equipment you need is available for guests staying in rooms. All camping and dome tent accommodation shares communal ablution blocks with flushing toilets and bucket showers. Hot water is available on request. A small above ground swimming pool is available for refreshment on those hot summer days. Bring your own braai stands, or make use of our communal braai stands.
ACTIVITIES: Let our local guides show and teach you about life in an African village. Although the people don’t live in mud or grass huts anymore, they still carry traditions passed on through generations by the elders of the various tribes. Our guided adventure activities will not only get your heart rate up, but also teach you about the local fauna and flora of this unique geological wonder. When partaking in one of our activities, you directly support the local community by creating employment and practicing conservation awareness

TOURS TO PILANESBERG GAME RESERVE
Professionally Guided Wildlife Safaris
Day tours:
Departing from Johannesburg or Pretoria at 6am, your professional safari guide will drive you to the gem of the north-west province. +- 2.5 hours. On arrival, you will be introduced to the extinct eroded volcano, once taller than mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the day learning about the history, geology, fauna and flora of this unique park. After exploring the park, you will return to your desired drop off location.
Price:
R2300 per person, includes: Transport in air conditioned vehicle, professional safari guide, park entry fees, drinking water. Own expense lunch. Minimum 2 people per departure.
Overnight tours:
Departing from Johannesburg or Pretoria at 8am, your professional safari guide will drive you to the gem of the north-west province. +- 2.5 hours. On arrival, you will be introduced to the extinct eroded volcano, once taller than Mount Kilimanjaro. Overnight safari packages include daily transport in an air-conditioned vehicle, professional safari guide, daily park entry fees, accommodation at Bushfoot Basecamp, meals and activities as per itinerary. Drinks not included. Minimum 2 people per departure. Discounts apply for groups of more than 2 people.
